In a last-minute executive decision by the Montreal International Music Competition (MIMC), the winners’ announcement was made immediately following tonight’s final round performances.

According to Martin Boucher, communications representative for the MIMC, the time change was made in part due to the large number of followers this year who are eager to publish the winners, and also because it would be difficult for the winner to keep quiet about the news until Friday.

The winners are:

First Prize: Zoltán Fejérvári (30 years old, Hungary)

Second Prize: Giuseppe Guarrera (25 years old, Italy)

Third Prize: Stefano Andreatta (25 years old, Italy)

Musical Toronto will be at Friday’s gala concert, where the remaining awards will also be distributed.
