COFFEE BREAK | European Musicians Gather To Play Ode To Joy In Response To Brexit (video)

By Ludwig Van on June 27, 2016

Slipped Disc has published a moving video of a performance of Beethoven’s Ode To Joy by a “scratch orchestra” of musicians from around Europe and the UK. The impromptu orchestra gathered after the votes were counted on Friday, June 24, in London’s Trafalgar Square outside of St Martin-in-the-Fields to express their profound grief surrounding the controversial and historic vote to leave the EU.

While some have called this a protest against democracy, others see it as a message for unity.
