THE SCOOP | Toronto Pays Tribute To Prince With Massive 1999 Voice Choir

By Michael Vincent on May 9, 2016

Last Monday, Toronto’s Choir! Choir! Choir! (CCC) held a massive sing-along tribute to the late pop star Prince, at Massey Hall with over 1999 singers in attendance.

The amateur choir learned the three-part harmony arrangement of Prince’s 1984 hit, “When Doves Cry” over two hours.

The event was organised by CCC Co-Creative Directors Nobu Adilman and Daveed Goldman — shown in the video above directing the singers from the stage.

The event also included a performance of “Purple Rain” by Sabrina Wan and Brad McGoey from the Regent Park School of Music and a sighting of “Le Petit Prince.”

The choir later assembled at Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square to perform the When Doves Cry for passers-by.

The CCC will donate all proceeds from the event to the Regent Park School of Music.
