Sistema Toronto has announced that renowned soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian has been appointed as the fifth Honorary Music Ambassador. The role has previously been filled by cellists Yo-Yo Ma and Shauna Rolston, violinist James Ehnes, and Toronto Symphony Orchestra Music Director Peter Oundjian.

“It’s a true pleasure to have this opportunity to support Sistema Toronto,” said Ms. Bayrakdarian. “I have great respect for Sistema’s global mission, and I’m delighted that they have asked me to promote their objective of shaping young lives through the gift of music.” She added how honoured she is to be joining the ranks of Sistema Toronto’s other Music Ambassadors: “Coming together with these tremendous artists, for whom I have the highest regard, feels like joining a special family.”

The role is devoted to fostering connections between Sistema Toronto and classical music communities around the world.
