Concertmaster | Noun | \ˈkän(t)-sərt-ˌmas-tər\ |  The Concertmaster, from the German Konzertmeister, is the principle first violin, typically seated closest to the audience to the left of the Conductor/Music Director. Their job, amongst other things, is to determine the bowing, and lead the orchestra in tuning before concerts and rehearsals.

Usage | “Did you know the TSO’s Jonathan Crow was at one time the youngest concertmaster of a major North American orchestra in history?”
