The 44th Annual JUNO Award Nominees have just been released. Each will participate in the 2015 JUNO Awards and JUNO Week celebrations over March 9-15. The awards will be broadcast on CTV from FirstOntario Centre on Sunday, March 15, 2015.
Going over the list, there is very strong Canadian competition this year in all the categories.
Nominees include two different CD’s with TSO concertmaster, Jonathan Crow, who has been heavily expanding his interest in chamber music this year. TSO’s new Rimsky-Korsakov CD for the Chandos label is nominated, along with Brian Current’s recording of his opera, Airline Icarus on the Naxos label. Canadian composers, Alice Ping Yee Ho, Gordon Fitzell, and John Estacio also made the list. In the vocal category, Gerald Finley, Karina Gauvin, Daniel Taylor will be in tight competition.
