Stratford Summer Music has announced today that violinist star Hilary Hahn will be withdrawing from all appearances over the next six weeks due to an inflamed muscle. The cancellation will affect her scheduled recital with pianist Jan Lisiecki and the Annex String Quartet, on August 1, at the Stratford Summer Music Festival, as well as planned appearances at the Hollywood Bowl with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and the Kingston Chamber Music Festival in Rhode Island.

“We are naturally disappointed with this news and we send our fullest best wishes to Hilary for a speedy recovery,” said John A. Miller, Artistic Producer of Stratford Summer Music. “I am extremely happy that Jan and the Annex musicians will present a complete and exciting program in the spirit and enthusiasm with which our audiences have enjoyed their previous Stratford appearances in 2012 and 2013!”

To fill the program, Mr. Lisiecki and the Annex String Quartet will instead perform repertoire in honour the 150th anniversary of the birth of the German composer, Richard Strauss. Mr. Lisiecki will also perform the complete 24 Preludes for Piano by Frederic Chopin, Opus 28.
