Opera Hamilton has announced a 34th season that includes two operas to be presented at the Dofasco Centre for the Arts.

First up is Giuseppe Verdi’s great, final opera Falstaff. The excellent cast includes John Fanning in the title role, James Westman, Lyne Fortin, Ariana Chris, Sasha Djihanian and American tenor Theo Lebow. The director is Allison Grant. There will be four performances, starting Oct. 19.

Coming in April are four performances of Georges Bizet’s ever-popular Carmen.

In between are three “popera” concerts with soloists and chorus in January, and the Oct. 25 finale concert of the Sheila and Marla Zack Voice Competition, which awards a $5000 scholarship to a worthy budding performer. All the season details are here.
