ceciliaIn advance of next week’s release of a new album Amoroso with Analekta, the Cecilia String Quartet has released its first music video. The music is the unabashedly serious and intense third movement of Leos Janácek’s “Kreutzer Sonata” String Quartet No. 3.

Barry Shiffman, who connected me with the video, says that it was made possible by funding from the Banff International String Quartet Competition.

It’s fascinating to watch the camera work and how it is intimately allied with the music.

    just gorgeous, musically and visually!

It’s fascinating to just close your eyes and be submerged in the music, lyrical lines ripped by rusty daggers.

Superb interpretation, I can’t wait to hear the CD. BTW, the Cecilia SQ presented an amazing performance of Weinzweig’s String Quartet No. 3 yesterday at Walter Hall; it was truly rivetting, from start to finish. Wonderful performances of the Violin Sonata (Min) and Cello Sonata (Rebecca) as well, both with James Parker. What great performers…
