Canada’s It Boy baritone Philippe Sly has a new album coming out from Analekta on March 12. It features four cantatas of Jean-Philippe Rameau that also include soprano Hélène Guilmette. They are accompanied by period-instrument keyboardist Luc Beauséjour and consort.
The album is being streamed for free by CBC Music in advance of next week’s release. It sounds like a winner, based on my first listen.
You can read a bit more background and listen here.
And this is a playful little teaser video made by Analekta:

I met Phiippe when he was twelve years old at the summer choir camp where I was guest conductor (Choirs Ontario’s Junior Choir Camp)…he was a star then, but it is terribly exciting to hear the voice now. He has such a love of music, drama, and life in general! Thanks, John, for sharing this news with us.
